Coach Cool and the Gang: Celebrate a Newtown-Harris Run to the Show-Me Final!

Listen Later

In 2009 Newtown-Harris broke through and capped a 4 year era of success with a run to the Missouri Show-Me Showdown Class 1 Basketball Final.  Stymied in the quarterfinals two straight years, the Newtown-Harris team continued to develop their skills and chemistry and kept focused on their ultimate goal to play for a state championship.  Coach Tim Cool, with 574 Missouri High School Wins and current coach of the Chillicothe Hornets Boys Basketball Team, joins us.  Two key players, Kameron Cool and Tyler Busick, longtime educators in the Trenton R-IX School System, remember that year and all the things involved in that run to the final.  Hear about gyms that were never "closed", brothers and cousins challenging one another and a season that sparked the imagination of local fans.  Thanks to KTTN-FM and Tom Johnson for audio clips provided for this episode!!
