In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland explores an important distinction between biblical lament and worldly complaining. Life brings disappointment, grief, confusion, frustration, and seasons when we simply do not understand what God is doing. Scripture does not tell us to pretend those struggles are not real.
The Bible gives us another way to respond. Lament allows us to bring our pain honestly into the presence of God. Rather than allowing disappointment to drive us away from Him, we can turn toward Him, tell Him what hurts, remember His faithfulness, and choose to trust Him even when our circumstances have not changed.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical examples, this episode will help you examine how you respond when life hurts and learn a simple pattern for biblical lament. You will also consider how learning to lament well can help you minister more effectively to others who are grieving, discouraged, or struggling.
Grumbling drives us away from God. Lamenting draws us near to God.

In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland explores how to stay grounded in God’s Word when life gets busy and our schedules begin competing with the spiritual disciplines we know are important.
Busy seasons are a normal part of life. Ministry, work, family, leadership, and the needs of others can quickly fill our days. But when time in Scripture is consistently pushed aside, we can find ourselves trying to navigate life without the very truth that should be shaping our thinking, decisions, priorities, and relationships.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical principles, this episode will encourage you to examine your current habits, recognize what may be crowding out time in God’s Word, and find practical ways to keep Scripture an intentional part of your life even during demanding seasons.

In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland explores something many Christians experience but may hesitate to admit: there are times when we simply don’t feel like praying.
Sometimes we are tired, discouraged, distracted, disappointed, or overwhelmed. At other times, we may not know what to say or may even wonder whether our prayers are making a difference. Yet prayer is not dependent upon our emotions. Our relationship with God remains important even when the desire to pray feels distant.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical principles, this episode encourages you to consider what may be getting in the way of prayer and how you can continue turning toward God even when prayer feels difficult. You don’t need perfect words, the right emotions, or a lengthy prayer. Sometimes faithfulness begins simply by showing up and honestly telling God what is on your heart.
Prayer is more than a spiritual task to complete. It is part of our relationship with God. And sometimes the moments when we least feel like praying may be the moments when we most need to draw near to Him.

In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland explores something that can be surprisingly difficult in a busy, noisy, and demanding world: learning to be still.
Our lives are filled with responsibilities, conversations, notifications, decisions, problems to solve, and people who need our attention. Even when our bodies stop moving, our minds can continue racing. Yet Scripture reminds us of the importance of becoming still long enough to remember who God is and to recognize that we do not have to control everything around us.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical principles, this episode encourages you to examine the noise and activity in your own life and consider whether you are creating enough space to be quiet, listen, pray, reflect, and simply rest in the presence of God.
Being still is not the same as doing nothing. Sometimes stillness requires discipline. It means intentionally stepping away from the noise, resisting the urge to fill every available moment, and trusting that God remains at work even when we stop striving.

In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland explores an important challenge for people who spend much of their lives caring for others: learning to care for yourself so you can continue serving faithfully and effectively.
Chaplaincy, ministry, coaching, leadership, and caregiving can require a great deal from us emotionally, spiritually, and physically. When we are constantly focused on the needs of others, it can be easy to neglect our own need for rest, renewal, healthy boundaries, and time with God.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical principles, this episode encourages you to consider how well you are caring for the person God has called to care for others. Taking care of yourself is not about becoming self-centered. It is about recognizing your limits, stewarding your health and energy wisely, and developing rhythms that allow you to continue serving others for the long term.
You cannot continually pour into others without being intentional about what is filling you. Healthy service requires learning when to rest, when to step away, when to ask for help, and when to allow others to care for you too.

In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland explores what it takes to keep moving forward and finish the race God has placed before you.
Starting well is important, but the Christian life, leadership, and ministry require more than a strong beginning. There will be seasons of fatigue, discouragement, distraction, disappointment, and unexpected obstacles. The challenge is learning how to persevere when the journey becomes harder than we expected.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical principles, this episode encourages you to consider what may be slowing you down, what needs to be set aside, and how keeping your focus on what God has called you to do can help you continue moving toward the finish line.
Finishing the race does not mean everything will go according to plan. It means remaining faithful, continuing to grow, and refusing to allow setbacks or distractions to keep you from completing the work God has placed before you.

In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland explores the discipline of finishing what you start and why following through matters in leadership, ministry, and everyday life.
Starting something new can be exciting. New ideas, goals, projects, and opportunities often bring energy and enthusiasm. Finishing is different. It requires discipline, perseverance, focus, and the willingness to keep going after the initial excitement has faded.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical principles, this episode will challenge you to consider what unfinished commitments may be occupying your attention, why you sometimes struggle to follow through, and what may be keeping you from completing the work already in front of you.
Faithfulness is not simply about beginning with good intentions. It also means learning to persevere, steward our responsibilities well, and finish what God has entrusted to us.

In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland talks about one of the most difficult challenges in leadership, ministry, and everyday Christian life: remaining faithful when you can't see the results.
We often measure progress by what we can see. We look for changed lives, answered prayers, growing ministries, successful projects, or some other evidence that our efforts are making a difference. But sometimes we serve faithfully, invest in people, pray, encourage, teach, lead, and keep showing up without seeing the outcome we hoped for.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical principles, this episode encourages you to consider the difference between faithfulness and visible results. You may not always see what God is doing through your obedience, and you may never fully know the impact of the seeds you have planted in someone else's life.
The challenge is to remain faithful with what God has entrusted to you, even when the results are difficult to see. Our responsibility is faithfulness. The results ultimately belong to God.

In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland explores the importance of slowing down and what can happen when we allow hurry to control the pace of our lives, leadership, and ministry.
We live in a culture that often treats busyness as a measure of effectiveness. There is always another task to complete, another problem to solve, another meeting to attend, and another responsibility demanding our attention. But constantly rushing can keep us from thinking clearly, listening carefully, noticing the people around us, and recognizing what God may be doing in the moment.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical principles, this episode will challenge you to examine the pace of your life, identify where hurry may be affecting your leadership and relationships, and consider how intentionally slowing down can help you become more present, thoughtful, and effective in the responsibilities God has given you.

In this episode of Coached by Truth, Jim Kirkland explores the ministry of presence and why sometimes the most meaningful thing we can offer another person is simply our full attention.
When someone is hurting, struggling, or trying to make sense of a difficult situation, our first instinct may be to offer advice, solve the problem, or find the right words. But effective ministry often begins by slowing down, listening well, and being fully present with the person God has placed before us.
Through practical Christian coaching and biblical principles, this episode will help you consider how well you listen, whether you are truly present with others, and how giving someone your undivided attention can become a powerful expression of care, compassion, and ministry.
