Coaster Redux

The third park on my Europe adventure was Germany's Phantasialand, my number one bucket list theme park of all time.  I spent two full days here on my Coaster Breaks tour back in May, and everything about it was a level above any other park I've visited.  Stand-out roller coasters like the Intamin multi-launch Taron and the innovative F.L.Y. from Vekoma were absolute show-stoppers, but this park is built in layers, and there's so much more to discover.  

Making this visit more special, my brother Karl met up with me for the first day, and I got my 300th coaster credit.  Join me as I peel back the myriad layers and experience world class flat rides, water rides, walk-throughs, food and more, combined with some of the best immersive theming on the planet. My Benelux and Germany tour with Coaster Breaks begins with my first European railway journey from London Heathrow to Ashford International to meet my guide and take the train to France before drivign to Belgium.  Join me as I meet my travel companions for the next eight days and spend a wonderful Saturday at Walibi Belgium.

Crowds are light, temps are hot, and the park is spectacular!  This is an absolute must-visit European theme park combining excellent theming, a well-rounded ride collection, and the phenomenal one-two punch of the Kondaa Intamin mega coaster, and the outstanding Mecalodon Gerstlauer family multi-launch coaster.  Plus so much more!

My first Europe trip begins with a solo visit to Thorpe Park, just outside London.  Ever since Hyperia opened in 2024, this park topped my UK hype list with this wacky looking hyper coaster from Mack Rides.  I seek out truly unique roller coasters, and there ain't nothing traditional about this twisted inverting behemoth.  Known as the UK's Most Thrilling Theme Park, Thorpe is also home to the Nemesis Inferno B&M invert, a wing coaster called Swarm, and of course Stealth, an Intamin hydraulic launched coaster boasting the current record for the world's fastest acceleration.

EPCOT was the final stop on my four-day trip to the Walt Disney World Resort.  The Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow was originally intended to be a master-planned home for park employees but morphed into a massive theme park after Disney's death.  It currently stands as a sort of permanent Worlds Fair with multiple pavilions showcasing 11 different countries, and highlighting human achievement, technology, and innovation.

While home to thrill rides like Test Track and Mission: SPACE, EPCOT remains an edutainment experience with attractions meant to spark imagination and trigger inspiration.  It's also home to Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, my single most anticipated ride of the trip, and the world's longest indoor roller coaster.  

So join me on this journey around the world and to worlds beyond as I wrap up my Disney trip at EPCOT.

It’s day three at Walt Disney World.  Time for the main event!  A place where wishes filled with wonder lead to fantasy and adventure, and if you believe in magic, dreams become destiny, the frontier meets tomorrow, and today, I’ll take the liberty to explore it all!  It’s the world’s most visited theme park, a veritable icon, and it’s home to many of the most memorable and beloved attractions anywhere.  

The Magic Kingdom has been making memories for generations, myself included, and today I’m back, for the first time in over 30 years, set to re-experience one of the greatest theme parks on Earth, but through new eyes as an adult thrill seeker.  I’m looking forward to a day reliving memories, seeing what’s new, and seeking redemption on that massive white mountain.  So what do you say, are you ready to wish upon a star?

I’m interrupting the Disney series to make a special announcement about my major trip for this year because one…..It’s coming up ridiculously quickly, and two, I booked it back in November and it’s taken every fiber of my being to keep it under wraps until now.  It’s gonna be thirteen days in late May, and I’ll visit eight parks with 64 possible credits, and you better believe there are some bangers on this itinerary.

So to get things kicked off, I’ll reveal all the parks on this trip, then welcome some special guests to the podcast to talk about their roller coaster journeys and help me get prepared for my adventure to come.        

This is going to be my biggest trip ever, and somewhere along the line, I’ll get my 300th credit, and I can’t wait to bring you along.

When it comes to thrills at Walt Disney World, there are more to be found at Hollywood Studios than any other park in the resort, and while I loved Animal Kingdom yesterday, I was ready for some adrenaline!  I loved the immersive themed Toy Story and Star Wars lands, was charmed by Slinky Dog Dash and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, and had my mind blown on wild thrill rides like Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Rise of the Resistance, and Tower of Terror.

Have you ever heard that saying, “There’s an elephant in the room?”  It’s kind of a weird expression, but it means that there’s something so big and so obvious standing right there, yet it’s not being talked about.  Well, my elephant is the Walt Disney World Resort, and while I've lived in Florida for the better part of 15 years, I haven't been here since I was ten years old.  Cost, complexity, and a focus on family-friendly attractions have deterred me from visiting in the past, but now I'm curious.  Will the magic of Disney capture the imagination of this adrenaline junkie?  It's time to find out, beginning with my first ever visit to Disney's Animal Kingdom for Expedition Everest, Avatar - Flight of Passage, and more!

It’s time to get those typing thumbs warmed up because right now, I’m putting a bullseye squarely on my chest. Today, I’m gonna count down my top 25 roller coasters as of the end of 2025.  I haven’t done one of these since the 2023 season finale, and with two years’ worth of new experiences, I think it’s time.  This has been my most requested topic as of late, and with a monster season planned for the new year, I figure it’s a good time to pause, reflect, and then give you a preview of what’s to come.

On my way home from visiting family and friends in my hometown south of Boston, I stopped in Allentown, PA to complete the eastern Pennsylvania trifecta.  I did Knoebels and Hersheypark in 2023, and this time I stopped at Dorney Park.  Neglected for years by Cedar Fair, they finally added a new roller coaster in 2024, the Iron Menace B&M dive machine. 

From the second I walked through the gate, I was charmed by the atmosphere, charm, and overall quality of this lower-tier legacy Cedar Fair park.  Not only do they have a solid roller coaster line-up, but they've got several great non-coaster rides, with one being elite.
