हम गौर कर सकते हैं कि हमारे प्रत्‍येक शुभ कार्य की शुरूआत ‘’नारियल’’ से ही होती हैं । पूजा-अर्चना, किसी का सम्‍मान कार्य हो या कोई संपत्ति क्रय की हो, हम सभी में ‘’नारियल’’ का उपयोग करते हैं ।  माना जाता हैं कि नारियल की कड़ी खोल या कवर अहं का प्रतीक हैं और अंदर की सफेद-मुलायम गरी पवित्र और उज़ला चरित्र का । इस प्रकार जब हम किसी देवता को समर्पित करने के लिए नारियल तोड़ते हैं तो हम अपने व्‍यर्थ अहंकार, ईर्ष्‍या, द्वेष और स्‍वार्थभाव  का नाश करते हुए एक अत्‍यंत स्‍वस्‍थ  व्‍यक्तित्‍व निर्माण की ओर पहल करते हैं ।
