Welcome back! In this episode, we share the lessons and musings we’ve encountered on our trips to Cazadero, CA and Sedona, AZ. In this episode, we begin with our thoughts on HBO’s Big Little Lies and how it’s affected us to reflect on our personal perspectives on dating + romantic relationships as a whole. We talk about the fears we have as women in the daunting world of casual, online dating, as well as how our self worth truly defines the way a romantic relationship can unfold. Sophia reads some passages from Glennon Doyle’s stunning memoir, Untamed, in which Doyle describes the power of imagination as fuel for creation in a refreshing light, and allows us to view a concept as seemingly esoteric and intangible as manifestation/visualization with an unprecedented clarity of something as universal as human experience.

In this episode, we discuss how quarantine and graduation have impacted our relationships with our parents and growing up with the Internet. In the past, we saw our parents as GODS who had all the right answers but as we get older, we’re seeing eye to eye with them and the dynamic shift is … weird. It can also become more challenging when our parents better understand the changes in our life we’re facing but we have no way of truly understanding the changes they’re experiencing. This is your gentle nudge to bring more empathy (than usual) into future conversations with your parents and maybe even to start watching This Is Us (strong recommendation from Sophia).

What’s in a mindset? In this episode, we explore a variety of topics – from becoming the manager of your emotions to getting a life-changing perm. In our experiences, a change in mindset has unlocked hidden opportunities and built the positive momentum we never knew we needed. The decision to commit to change is the hardest part but why not make it easier by getting a new haircut or putting on an outfit that makes you feel hot! The gist is that in every moment, we have a decision on how we want to feel – so how do you want to feel right now?

In this candid episode, we talk about astral projection, the challenges of fusing art and capitalism, and the divine timing of Pixar’s new movie, Soul. This movie has been inspiring in so many ways and has even been a seed for Sophia’s latest creative venture, @hausbylau. Change is the only constant in our life and gaining “clarity” might just be overrated. We share our wavering thoughts and how we’ve been attempting to ground ourselves in this time. In this episode, we realize that a reframing of the intimidating questions we’re asking are a key part of allowing ourselves to be, living more presently, and accepting the lack of clarity.

In our first episode apart and online, we have a raw conversation about our current state of exploration in the defining decade. From making pivotal changes like moving to rejecting traditional corporate careers, we dive deeper into the mental and emotional hurdles that we’re encountering. Other than empowering ourselves with our own definition of what a successful life is “supposed” to be, we discuss how reaching out to people who are on our ideal paths, applying The Four Agreements to our present experiences, and routine journaling (no surprise) have been keeping us grounded.

After reading Meg Jay’s “The Defining Decade” and experiencing bouts of nostalgia, we reflect on the knowledge we’ve received and how we’re using it to approach our defining decade. In this episode, we also talk about the impact of mentors (offline and online), the lack of guidance in the educational system, and factoring gratitude in our daily life while our journeys still feel unclear. Out of these reflections, we’re slowly learning to be patient with our small lifestyle changes and accepting that growth is like training a muscle.
