In honor of America's 250th Birthday/Funeral, Danny and Kevin discussed one of their favorite texts, the 2008 miniseries John Adams. Featuring a cavalcade of guys and gals playing both famous and infamous figures from the first fifty years of America's history, the series is an entertaining exploration of a misunderstood era. We discuss the look and feel of the series, the performances, the ideology, and why it's worth thinking about these toothless nerds given that we're still living with their sweaty fumbling compromises at making things better.

Danny and Kevin continue their conversation on the new Star Wars products by discussing the movie that came and went, The Mandalorian and Grogu, also known as Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. This strangely timed phone-in job from Jon Favreau and crew vexes Danny and Kevin as they wonder what is going in those offices at Lucasfilm or Disney or whatever. No spoiler alert warning was given because there is literally nothing to spoil in this boring but kind of fun at times action adventure movie.

Danny and Kevin briefly discussed Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord during their May the Fourth episode, but now give a full review after seeing the whole season. Danny feared Kevin would make him watch it so got ahead of it. The two talk about things that worked and didn't work in the show. You know, like most Star War things now. 'Member when Star Wars was special? Or when Darth Maul clearly died in The Phantom Menace?

Danny and Kevin finally resume and conclude their catch-up talk on some 2025 projects they wanted to discuss, this time on a few movies and streaming projects. Kevin first fills Danny in about a little show called Stranger Things and how everybody watches it but hates it. Both were able to watch the latest Benoit Blanc joint and weigh in on how it compares to the first two entries in the series. Danny then went on a bit of a fascist kick by watching both Nuremberg and Mussolini: Son of the Century.

Danny and Kevin close the book on 2025 with some late, like after-the-ceremony late, talk of Oscar contenders not previously discussed. Lumberjacks, revolutionaries, fascists, handsome men in fast cars, and aliens (?) round out a year of vampires and Frankensteins. Danny drops the C-bomb and Kevin's lil' puppy farts up a storm. We remain the classiest and, in fact, ONLY podcast about movies.

Danny and Kevin return to the Seven (or is it Nine?) Kingdoms for a light-hearted adventure with a guy that's really tall and a kid that's really small. Light-hearted, at least, by GRRM's world-weary and cynical standards. A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which this podcast will hereafter refer to as "Dunk and Egg", is a wonderful departure from both the original show's grim and murky tone and Hot D's attempt to just do that again but more boring-er. And there is a massive hog in it.

Like James Cameron resurfacing after an aquatic adventure, Danny and Kevin return from a brief hiatus to review the new Avatar picture, Fire and Ash. Or should it be called Fire and Blood, because it features Talisa Stark and reminds our podcasters of a long-running television series more than the third installment of a movie saga. Kill Bill was originally intended to be one movie and after many years of speculation, the film was finally given a wide release with the title Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair. This is one of Kevin's all-time favorites, and he was able to catch the nearly five-hour presentation during its limited release last month. Danny gave Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 rewatches, so Kevin filled him in on the changes made for this release. The two reminisce over this classic, which is driven by a perfect performance by Uma Thurman and the brilliant imagination of the most annoying human being on earth, Quentin Tarantino.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the movie that has probably been alluded to most on this podcast, is ten years old already. Danny and Kevin provide a commentary track for the smash hit that reinvigorated the Star Wars franchise while also setting the tone for soft reboots that would dominate the next several years. The duo talk about how fun this movie is, its place in and the other films in the sequel series, and how consequential it was for the major studios.
