Listen Later

Maya Lin is a ruthless, hyper-polished real estate acquisition director based in London, who views the world through the cold lens of spatial efficiency and corporate profit margins. When she returns to her historic childhood neighborhood of Katong in Singapore, her corporate mission is simple and clinical: close down her late grandfather’s struggling, decades-old traditional coffee shop (kopitiam) and sell the prime heritage plot to a luxury high-rise developer. She expects a routine liquidation. Instead, she runs headfirst into a massive twist: the current tenant managing the lease is Liam Goh, her high school sweetheart. Liam is a stubbornly idealistic culinary preservationist who roasts his own traditional coffee beans and defends the raw, authentic soul of local community spaces.

Sparks fly instantly in the tropical heat as Maya tries to enforce corporate eviction notices and structural audits, while Liam and his quirky network of local aunties fight to keep the historical neighborhood hub alive. Forced to co-manage the shop through a chaotic festive season to settle a legal technicality, Maya finds her emotional defenses completely thaws. She soon discovers that some assets cannot be measured on a corporate balance sheet, and Liam might just be the permanent home her heart has been missing.
