Coffee With Camilla

For today’s podcast I hope you have your notebooks out to take notes because I have a special guest! I am interviewing my good friend Melinda Drennan who is a CPA in Nashville and we are going to talk about Being Prepared for tax season.

Can you believe it's our one year anniversary! Today i've got two special guests that help me keep this podcast running: Victoria Powell and Alex Dooley. We can't wait to bring you more episodes!

Where have I been? I took my own advice and made a bunch of calls and emails and stacked my calendar up!

I want to take a couple of minutes to remind my listeners of a what we’ve covered on this podcast.

I know you are busy writing songs, perfecting set lists, rehearsing, reviewing touring schedules, meeting with media, working on your image, meeting with consultants and team members, going to the gym and squeezing in sleep here or there. Let me challenge you to step away from all of that and get out of that wheel of work now and then.

When difficult subjects come your way as an artist, you must remember to decide or remind yourself what is MOST important to you before you sound off or act out on the subject.

WHY do you write songs? WHY do you play your instrument? WHY are you getting gigs and performing on stages?

When things are not going right on stage at your performance, you can still pull off a great show if you are prepared. You can’t control everything about your show but you can control YOU!

Have you ever heard the saying, “Ain’t Nobody to Blame But Me?” I’m Mostly speaking to performing artists or musicians today. Well this is you and your career. You must be in control of your career!

This is a tough subject because when you trust your gut, it's easy to miss an opportunity or make the wrong judgement call. In your career path, and life in general really, everyone must come to the place where they trust their gut.
