Cold Warriors

Listen Later

In this episode, I talk about the book Cold Warriors by Duncan White. The book takes a look at the Cold War through the lives of the greatest novelists on both sides of the Iron Curtain. White details critical moments in the lives of Orwell, Koestler, McCarthy, Pasternak and others. It was a time when books were weapons of war and authors wielded them for and against both sides of the conflict.
The episode also gets into typewriters, particularly my Royal 260, which plays AM radio and, for the most part, can still type.
