Kaepernick's story illustrates the collision of two sets of values.  One set of values puts freedom of speech as being more important than loyalty to the flag and country, or visa versa.  Conservatives and liberals come down on different side of these two issues.   And there was one more issue hanging in the background: "Black Lives Matter".
