Hello and welcome to the Collected Edition – a comic book podcast where we explore celebrated story-arcs from comics and creators throughout the entirety of history.

On this episode we discuss the 1970s darker take on Aquaman – The Death of a Prince. This was an attempt to make the character more mature and to deal with more adult themes. It deals with family matters,  Atlantian politics, as well as relentless attacks and dubious plots from the likes of Black Manta, Ocean Master, and (cough) the Fisherman. All this and leads ultimately to, as the title suggests, the death of his child.

Death of a Prince is simultaneously lighthearted and dark. It attempts to deal with the themes of loyalty and betrayal, duty and responsibility, and grief in the aftermath of tragedy – albeit in a very 70s kind of way.

Also, we in lieu of having an actual topic to discuss we sort of stumble our way through roughly five minutes of stream of consciousness that goes from bad Christmas songs to our opinions on the CW Flarrowverse. Meh, we had fun.
