Collecting Solar Eclipse Data - Aug. 29, 2017

A total solar eclipse of the sun occurred on Aug. 21. The path of totality clipped the northeastern corner of Kanasa, going basically across Hiawatha into the Kansas City suburbs and then into Missouri. Because of cloud cover in many areas, the eclipse – while still spectacular – was not what everyone had hoped for. However, Kansas State University climatologist Mary Knapp says the weather stations within the Kansas Mesonet collected valuable data.
