From its beginning in 1943 as a small, intrastate, Alabama trucking operation to the national, multi-service transportation company of today, Colonial Freight Systems, Inc., has maintained the same philosophy of innovative service at competitive prices. In 1950, operating as Colonial & Pacific Frigidways and serving the emerging frozen food industry, C. E. McBride, the company's founder, applied with the I. C. C. for transcontinental authority -- the first motor carrier application of its kind. Colonial now holds both contract and common carrier nationwide authority.
