Medusa’s Madhouse

Colorado

I drove from Illinois to Utah (1,353 miles // 18:53 minutes one way) to Arches National Park on a spiritual quest. I left on a Thursday at 11am, slept in my Jeep at a rest stop somewhere in Omaha or Nebraska, woke up to a feeling like “I need to gtfo of here” so kept driving. My dad was making jokes about serial killers playground. I wanted to turn back, I just wanted it to be over. But I knew I had to persevere on my vision quest. Arrived in Utah around 9pm, showered, slept, ate some Native American fry bread tacos that brought me back to life, woke up the next morning had the most amazing biscuits and gravy, went and hiked 5 miles up a cliff to see the arches, came back down, peed in a cave, then headed back to Illinois straight in order to get back before midnight on Sunday because I have never missed a Mother’s Day. My eyes were opened to my own insignificance. So small and insignificant, yet also integral to the grand design. #humility #humbleyourselflestyoubehumbled #pride #ego #power #love #sacrifice #longsuffering #gruelingjourney #awakening #spiritualawakening
