In Colorado Springs, over the past week, several notable criminal incidents occurred.

Sand Creek officers responded on October 24 around 2:30 AM to a burglary in the vicinity of East Dale Street. According to the City of Colorado Springs Police Blotter, Fernando Juarez allegedly forced entry and pointed a handgun at two victims, then compelled them into a vehicle outside. Juarez was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary and kidnapping; the victims were also taken into custody on unrelated warrants.

Later, on October 23 at approximately 10:21 PM, officers arrived at Casden Circle for an alleged assault. Following a verbal argument, the suspect reportedly swung a baseball bat at a caregiver’s head but missed, striking a wall. Threats to kill the victim and others in the residence were made prior to the suspect leaving. The suspect was arrested without incident after being found in a vehicle at another location.

Also on October 23, officers and fire investigators responded to a suspicious structure fire in the 700 block of North Tejon Street just before 8 AM. Preliminary findings suggested arson, causing thousands of dollars in damage. The Colorado Springs Fire Investigation Unit and Regional Explosives Unit are actively investigating and request tips from the public.

At about 4 AM on October 23, Sand Creek Division officers went to North Academy Boulevard regarding an alleged robbery. The victim was reportedly robbed and assaulted by several suspects. Officers quickly found the suspects’ vehicle, which crashed and was abandoned nearby. With aerial and K9 support, three juvenile suspects were located and arrested. They are also implicated in an alleged motor vehicle burglary in the Gold Hill Division moments prior.

A collision was reported at Platte Avenue and Wooten Road on October 23, around 6 PM. A suspected head-on crash left both drivers seriously injured. Both were transported to a local hospital, and all traffic lanes reopened later that evening once the investigation concluded.

In the late hours of October 22, a motor vehicle theft was investigated near South Circle Drive. Police located a white 2000 Subaru Legacy, stolen a day earlier from North Murray Boulevard. Under surveillance, Rico Ramirez, age 37, was witnessed shoplifting from a department store nearby. Ramirez fled police when they attempted a stop, abandoning the stolen car. He was tracked and arrested, charged with motor vehicle theft, eluding, and shoplifting.

On October 22 at about 1:20 AM, a business in the 3300 block of East Fountain Boulevard was subjected to an alleged armed robbery. The suspect, described as male, entered and demanded money before fleeing. No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains open. The police have not released a suspect description at this time.

On the morning of October 21, fugitive detectives located Maurice Keener, age 47, in the area of Interquest Parkway. Keener, wanted for the October 8 bank robbery in downtown Colorado Springs, was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Evidence connected him not only to the October 8 incident but also to another bank robbery on Cascade Avenue, under ongoing investigation.

A traffic collision on October 19 at 10:52 PM on South Circle Drive involved a black Mitsubishi sedan drifting into northbound lanes and striking a white Chevrolet Corvette head-on. Both drivers and a passenger were hospitalized. The Mitsubishi driver's alleged impairment was noted in the investigation.

Bank robbery was reported October 20 at a financial institution on South Cascade Avenue around 10:43 AM. A male suspect allegedly demanded cash and fled with an undisclosed sum. This investigation continues, and police are asking for tips.

According to the City of Colorado Springs incident reports, significant activity this week included several property crimes, impaired driving-related crashes, and a number of arrests stemming from ongoing investigations. There is a notable pattern of suspects fleeing or eluding officers in several incidents, in connection with stolen vehicles and robbery cases. Juvenile suspects featured in more than one major property and violent crime.
