Colorism (skin-tone biases), supported by racist ideas, is the concept that darker skin is less desirable than lighter skin —a product of colonial discrimination and prejudices. It takes on many forms: from skin-lightening products in the cosmetic industry to a preference for lighter skin in the entertainment/film industry to job security — all of which are harmful to society. In this episode, we focus on how colorism divides us and the stereotypes people of color have to deal with daily.
