The theme of Colossians is that Jesus is the head of all things.

In chapter one the Apostle Paul gives a personal plea to this church at Colosse. He did not start this church, and he had not ever visited this church. Epaphras, a convert of his started the church at Collose. Because of a visit from Epaphras, Paul writes this church to address an issue with them.
