Becoming a Christian is like being drafted into a new life and identity. In these verses of Colossians 1, Paul outlines three things that define a person before they become a Christian and three things that define a person after they become a Christian. In the middle of that transition is the Christian's reconciliation to God through the life and death of Jesus Christ, and the continued faith of a Christian proves their reconciliation.
