Behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) refers to a group of noncognitive symptoms that commonly occur in patients with dementia. While data shows efficacy for treatment modalities for these symptoms and behaviors, the use of psychotropic medications has been met with controversy due to their adverse effects.
