Who will you become? Its a question I asked myself for years. In today’s homily I share my vocation story and make an invitation. This invitation isn’t to the priesthood but to have an open heart to the Holy Spirit. This homily is all about allowing yourself to be inspired enough that you’re willing to sacrifice yourself; to awaken one’s heart to love, be inspired by it, and then to die for it. For me that was the priesthood and I pray for a few who hear this homily.
If you want to read the passage I read aloud at the end here it is:
Men will be as virtuous as women demand. When a boy meets a real woman, who knows her worth and shines forth with grace, she’ll inspire him to set aside everything else for her. Encountering inner beauty in her, he’ll put aside the desires of a boy for what she inspires him to be – a father. Jesus if you call me to be such, let me encounter such… To encounter a real woman, to be inspired by her, and to give everything for her.
The song at the end is Come Away by Jesus Culture and performed by one of our wonderful choirs here at St. Mary’s.
