Holman Hunt’s famous painting, ‘The Light of the World,’ was inspired by Jesus’ words: ‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with him’ (Revelation 3v20). Today we look at the context in which Jesus spoke these words when He invited a struggling church in Laodicea (modern Turkey) to put aside all lukewarmness and to passionately seek all that God would want to give them.
