Ilse Zoerb came to Saigon in 2016 following Donald Trump’s election in her country America, and has been involved in numerous creative projects in the city since. These include movement classes, stand up comedy, theatre, voice work, and drag - where she performs as a Drag King, ‘Colonel Hai Minh’. We discuss the unorthodox but especially fun creative methods in her voice and movement workshops, the effort and beauty of seeing friends blossom whilst performing drag, life as an expat in Vietnam, facing our fears, and channeling our social skills via Zoom in the strictest Saigon lockdown to date.
