I met a woman named Cheryl recently. She told me she was sick, struggled with finances and had two young girls. Fear and uncertainty about their future was Cheryl’s biggest problem. Yet in the midst of this, Cheryl’s friend Sara told her about Jesus Christ. Sara told of her struggles through depression and how Jesus sustained her. Sara’s story made a difference in Cheryl’s life. Now, Cheryl’s fear doesn’t have the same sting – she put her faith in God and her children in His hands.
Cheryl didn’t know what the future would hold. But, thanks to her friend’s own story, she came to understand that God was in control. Proverbs 3:5 and 6 say, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Cheryl did just that and had this to say to her friend: “Thank you, thank you for sharing God’s goodness with me – this faith sustains.”
Do you have a friend or family member who is struggling with the unknown? Are they fearful? Tell them of a time when you put your faith in God our Father. Your experience may be just what your friend or family member needs to hear right now.
