If you believe, as I do, that libraries are the new front lines in broadening the audience for comics, then this episode is for you.
This week I talk with Sharon Iverson, Teen Librarian at the Ann Arbor District Library, about a variety of hot topics surrounding comics in libraries, including:
Getting your self-published comics into library collections. Who do you approach to see your comic in the stacks? Is it even a good idea to have your comic carried in a public or school library?
Partnering with your local library to create comics events. Sharon and I share our experiences over the last five years, growing a string of one-off events for 12 kids into some institutionalized multi-session classes and ongoing monthly comics gatherings.
