In this episode, I am interviewing my friend Austin who shares his story about growing up gay while living in a conservative Christian home and community.
His story is one of courage and authenticity. It takes immense strength to step out as your authentic self, especially when you know you will be rejected by family and your community.
I did not experience coming out as gay, but I did experience similar rejection and scrutiny from the same community as well as my family and friends.
I am so honored to be sharing Austin's story with you all. I'm hoping this hits home for 2 groups of people:
1. The person who might be battling with their own sexuality, authenticity, and feeling terribly afraid of the repercussions of "coming out".
2. The person who believes homosexuality is wrong (like I did) and who judges others for what they view as "sin".
This message is meant to open the eyes of those who lack empathy and understanding, as well as to honor and lift up those who have done courageous things like Austin.
