The Altitude Project: Running & Faith

Commissioned | Co-founders of the Altitude Project Avery Blackwell & Greg Jimmerson

Listen Later

With fire in their hearts to provide college runners the opportunity to train competitively while also investing in their spiritual development, Avery Blackwell and Greg Jimmerson co-founded the Altitude Project in 2004. Both were successful college runners - Avery 8-time All-Conference and an NCAA XC qualifier at Cal Poly in 2000 and Greg an All-American with a 4th place finish at the NCAA XC Championships at Stanford, leading his team to the title in 1996 - training post-collegiately at the Nike Farm Team, an elite/Olympic development training group.

In this conversation, they recount the story of envisioning and realizing the vision for The Altitude Project, from their high school/college running experience through their time as camp directors. While this is the Altitude Project story, it is more so a story about being commissioned. Listen to how Avery and Greg were commissioned and obedient in answering their call to those around them and later to college runners across the nation - a beautiful example of commissioned followers of Christ and how all of us are called to God and to others.
