Appearing on the Country Viewpoint, Commissioner Sue Woodward AM said Australian charities struggling to deal with rising expenses amid cost-of-living pressures.
- "The big picture headline if you like is that while revenue has increased, assets have increased, expenses have increased and liabilities have increased at a greater rate, so the overall net feature is that there is a double whammy for charities," Woodward said.
"A lot of them are out there in their local communities, I'm sure your listeners would know their local charities and the support that they provide, so quite often with the cost of living pressures in society generally, that increase the demand
that these charities are trying to serve."
"In terms of running their own organisation, they're finding that the expenses that they're facing across the sector have grown at sort of double the inflation rate. So revenue has gone up but the expenses have gone up even more."
