How do you get your children to actually listen to you?

You'll know the story of the Big Bad Wolf and the Three little pigs.

Sometimes it feels like you being the Big Bad Wolf, that just keeps blowing and blowing and blowing at this brick house and nothing happens. And sometimes speaking to your children, and they don't do what you asked him to do feels exactly like that. You just blow and blow and blow this brick house and nothing happens.

And then eventually, you try other methods and you climb through the chimney and you burn your bum. And I know that sounds a bit crazy, but just think of how this wolf must have been frustrated, like he blows and he blows and he blows this house, but nothing is happening. And talking to your children falls on brick ears sometimes. What is that sweet spot? How do you get them to actually listen to you?
