I grew up in a “three- channel” world. I’m not talking about television channels… I’m talking about communicating.
Remember when there were three ways to communicate? Face- to- face conversation, a written letter or a phone call. That’s it! Things have changed a bit, haven’t they? Now we have countless forms of engagement … and they’re updating all the time. Most of us use the three- channel approach, but teens don’t.
Some of the new technology leads to a lack of deep connection.
I wonder. Does your teen stick to short one- liners through text or Twitter? Have you noticed that they’re great at broadcasting their thoughts, but out of practice when it comes to listening?
Maybe it’s time to have a little more face- to- face time with your teen!
