On this week's episode, we are joined by nurse and follower of Jesus Chelsea Padgett. Chelsea is incredibly wise and has endured a lot of hardships and been refined by the Lord in so many ways that have led her to the place she is now. She shares how community is vital and we talk about the difference between friendships and community. We have resources mentioned in the episode down below! 

Questions:

1. What is one piece of advice you would tell the younger you?

2. What is friendship and what is community? How do they differ? How are they similar?

  • Friendship definition: a relationship of mutual affection between people. It is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an "acquaintance" or an "association", such as a classmate, neighbor, coworker, or colleague
  • Community definition: a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common
  • These can be interchangeable because what matter is that you have the inside- deep people that are pointing you to Jesus.

    • 3. When the bible talks about friendship what does that mean? Is it the same thing as what the church calls community?

    • Proverbs 12:36 “The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray”
    • Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”
    • 1 Chor. 15:33 “Do not be mislead: “Bad company corrupts good character”

      • 4. Putting what the Bible says about friendship into action, what does creating friends and community look like in our daily lives?

      • Meet regularly!
        • Hebrews 10:25 “and let us consider how we may spur one another toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another- and all the more as you see the Day approaching”
