This message is for the independent kings and queens that were raised to believe strength is being a lone soldier. Yes there are many benefits that come from centering yourself in solitude however God never intended us to be alone in life. Community is essential for growth in every way! spiritual growth, growth in self love, growth in character development and growth within all of our personal relationships.
Many of us isolate ourselves from people because we have experienced severe pain caused by friendships, caused by family and romantic partners. Many of us were raised to believe we can not trust other people. Raised to believe independence and strength lies within handling all of life’s burdens on our own. It’s unfortunate that within the black community, the way we learned to handle sever trauma own our own has become a badge of honor we wear proudly!
In this season of my life I'm learning hyper independence and the refusal to reach out to others is a trauma response. Believing you must handle everything on your own in order to be a successful adult only does a disservice in our lives. WE NEED PEOPLE. Not just an active social life. We need a sound community of loved ones around us. We need mentors, we need close friends and family who love us, we need advice and support. We need friends, family, and co workers. We need people in our lives who want to see us win! This is how your spiritual walk begins to grow. This is how your life begins to expand, by creating meaningful connections with others. There is only so much we can do on our own. Yes the lone soldier can succeed, but you can achieve 3x as more with a community of love surrounding you. There is strength in partnerships!
