Mel's Mindful Moments S1-E11 transcript:
We as people tend to have a lot of complaints about one thing or another. But isn't it odd that we rarely come up with a solution? I mean obviously we're not happy about something, otherwise what's all the complaining about? However, we rarely offer any solutions. It's as though we are waiting on someone to come along and "fix" it for us.
Why is that?
Well first of all, we've probably already had someone come along and fix things for us before. And usually it simply means that someone else is experiencing the exact same problem, got tired enough to do something about it. We just happened to reap the benefits of it as well. So naturally, we anticipate that someone will always do that for us.
But what about those rare times when you're the only one it bothers?
If no one else cares about it...
How long do you wait for someone else to fix it?
We really need to replace our complaining with problem solving. Instead of focusing on the problem, start focusing on a solution. And depending on how much it bothers you, will determine how quickly you resolve it. Besides that, you'll save yourself all that heartache of complaining, and start enjoying the solution you just created.
And everyone else who's been hearing your complaints, will enjoy the silence.
