For Amendment 3 -- the proposed constitutional amendment related to abortion -- the reading difficulty is rated at the 11th grade level for the ballot title, and grade level 14 for the difficulty of the text of the ballot summary. Kristi Baker Patterson, Ph.D., assistant professor of special education at SLU, she joins Megan Lynch, noting that the average American reads at a 5th-8th grade reading level.
