Compliments

Listen Later

Here we are, 2024! A New Year, and hopefully not the same old bad habits. May we all live healthier this year, mentally, spiritually, and physically.

Today, we begin our Verse of the Year 2024 sermon series. Over the next few weeks, we will be taking a look at three things that help to mold our character. How do we deal with: Compliments, Criticisms, Counsel.

lIf our hearts are going to reflect the love of Christ, we are going to have to put “self” by the side and seek to be holy because God is holy. If our hearts are going to reflect the love of Christ, we have to stop thinking of ourselves so much and think of others.

Our message title is “Compliments,” and it comes from Proverbs 27:2.

Our points will be:

  1. Put the Rubber to the Road
  2. Compliments

  3. Supporting Texts: Proverbs 27:19, 1 Samuel 15:26, Jeremiah 17:1, Jeremiah 17:9, Mark 7:21-23, Jeremiah 31:33, Romans 12:2, John 14:15, Proverbs 16:5, Proverbs 16:18, James 4:6, Romans 12:16, 1 John 2:16, Romans 5:12, 2 Corinthians 10:12, 2 Corinthians 10:18, Matthew 5:16, Matthew 25:21

    Questions:

    • Do people openly allow others to see their “heart/mind?” Explain.
    • How can we obey Jesus’ commands?
    • Why do we like compliments? What does this show?
    • How can we diligently do good works that may be seen in a manner that we don’t do them to be seen?
    • ...more
