This episode is a bit of a deep dive into an agreement which allowed the resolution of a disputed 1876 US Presidential Election between Republican Rutherford B. Hayes and Democrat Samuel J. Tilden. At the surface, the dispute had to do with 20 electoral votes and allegations of voter fraud -- but really this was all post-Confederate War shenanigans.
