Living Off the Grid in the City Podcast. The electric company is abusive in many ways, first and most notably is the high percentage of one's income that it charges from the poor and working classes. It imposes ridiculous fees and taxes with its already high rates, and it charges, rich and poor, the same rates for energy. These abuses cause that those of low-to-medium incomes; pay majority of the power company's profits and service. So, it is inherently economically abusive.
