Unlike most of the western world, voting is mandatory in many democracies. Countries like Australia, and several countries in South America, Africa and Asia have a compulsory voting system, where citizens will be fined if they don't participate in elections.

In this episode, we discuss whether compulsory voting is a good policy for more democracies to adopt, or if it unnecessarily infringes on the rights and freedoms of the citizens of these countries.
