In this interview, I have the pleasure of speaking with Tara Nelson, a Naturopath, Herbalist, Nutritionist, Author, Mentor, Speaker, Educator, and Thyroid Specialist. With an impressive three decades of clinical experience, Tara has dedicated her career to helping patients in all aspects of thyroid health, from hypo and hyperthyroidism to thyroid nodules, thyroid cancers, autoimmune conditions, and post thyroidectomy support.

Daniel has private rooms in east Melbourne and also holds a public appointment as a fertility specialist at the Reproductive Services Unit at The Royal Women’s Hospital where he is training junior doctors in fertility subspecialty training. Daniel also holds a Senior Lecturer appointment at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Melbourne.

A  healthy menstrual cycle and ovulation is vital to creating a pregnancy but did you know you may be getting your period without ovulating?  

If you are ovulating, only around 14% of women actually ovulate on day 14 like the text book tells us?  

Also that once ovulated, your egg only lives for about 12 – 24 hours each month!  But is really only capable of being fertilized in the first 4 hours!  

Yet despite how important this is, research shows that almost 90% of women attending IVF clinics, didn’t have a good understanding of their cycle and their fertile window.
