Their conversation, recorded over Skype, is filled with examples of students using concepts to transfer learning across subjects. Once students have an understanding of the big concepts, operating behind the facts, it is almost like the movie, "The Matrix". They see connections everywhere they look and easily begin creating their own knowledge from those connections. It is pretty impressive to hear about 3rd graders who find ways to connect culture and economics on their own.
