Listen Later

Hey there Beachgoers! Here's your latest surf zone forecast for the New York area, straight from the National Weather Service in New York.

Let's kick things off today with some important info: we've got a **HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK** in effect through the evening. So, be mindful out there!

Today's surf height is around 4 feet, with the potential for thunderstorms on the lower side. The UV Index is moderate, so slap on that sunscreen. The surf temperature is in the lower 70s, and we're looking at a cloudy day with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be in the mid-70s, and winds will be coming from the south at around 15 mph.

If you're planning for tomorrow, the rip current risk drops to moderate, surf height remains around 4 feet, and no thunderstorm potential in sight. It'll still be cloudy with a slight chance of showers, and temps in the lower 70s. Winds will shift to the northeast at 5 mph.

Heading into the weekend, Saturday looks mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and highs in the lower 70s, with east winds around 10 mph. Sunday, expect mostly cloudy skies with upper 60s for highs and east winds around 15 mph. And for Monday, it's looking partly sunny with highs around 70 and east winds around 10 mph.

Remember, regardless of the conditions, always stay safe out in the surf zone. Have a flotation device with you, swim near a lifeguard, and if caught in a rip current, relax, float, and don't swim against it.

For now, make the most of the waves and stay safe out there, fellow surfers! And remember to check out the UV index and beach safety tips in the link provided.
