Admitting my failures publicly – hoping you avoid them personally.

Wisdom: Learn the HARD way or Learn the EASY way

Confession: I bought into the myth that love would magically allow us to drift into a great marriage.

Life’s drift caused disengagement that damaged our hope for a great marriage.

Life’s drift in marriage caused disengagement that damaged our dream for happily ever after.

And for this reason a man will leave his father and mother and unite with his wife, and the two will become one. So they are no longer two, but one. Jesus of Nazareth

And now I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13:34

Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us....Ephesians 5:1-2

“Happily ever after” requires God’s kind of love that is pure, selfless, and intentional.

Only you can make your spouse a priority in life.

Love is unwilling to settle for, “I hope it works.”

God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent him to save them! John 3:16-17

Courageously calendar your convictions – No plan is just a bad plan.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Leave something in the tank for your spouse – Exhaustion hinders (cranky/cowardly/crave)

But so many people were coming and going that Jesus and the apostles did not even have a chance to eat. Then Jesus said, “Let’s go to a place where we can be alone and get some rest.” Mark 6:31

Trying to drift into a great marriage will damage our dream for happily-ever-after.
