Melissa Emerson, the Assistant Director of Conflict Resolution & Student Conduct Services at Colorado State University, explores conflict styles and a variety of approaches to engage in dialogue with a positive outcome. There are times when having a difficult conversation is the only way to address a conflict. The Higher Education setting is comprised of faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds who innately find themselves in conflict. While these topics pose obvious challenges for stakeholder(s), they also present a ripe opportunity to improve environments and relationships.
