WATCH HERE: https://youtu.be/-VPAINp9V6o What does idolatry look like in the modern world? In this challenging presentation, **Dr. Peter Hammond** examines how idolatry extends far beyond carved statues and ancient pagan temples. Modern idols can include political leaders, celebrities, sports personalities, wealth, success, technology, relationships, popular culture and even false ideas of God created to accommodate personal preferences. Drawing from Scripture, Dr. Hammond explores personality cults, emperor worship, political indoctrination, religious pluralism and society's tendency to give created people and things the honour, loyalty and devotion that belong to God alone. The presentation confronts several important questions: What occupies the highest place in our hearts? Have politics, popularity, prosperity or personal comfort become more important than obedience to God? Are we worshipping the God revealed in Scripture—or a god fashioned in our own imagination? Are Christians willing to stand for truth when society pressures them to bow before modern idols? The Bible repeatedly warns against idolatry: "You shall not make for yourself a carved image… you shall not bow down to them nor serve them." — Exodus 20:4–5 "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." — 1 John 5:21 Romans 1 warns that fallen humanity exchanges the truth of God for a lie and worships the creature rather than the Creator. Yet Acts 19 demonstrates that genuine repentance produces decisive action, as new believers destroyed the objects connected to their former idolatry. This presentation is both a warning and a call to self-examination.
