Good morning. Connecticut. I'm Aaron Jolly.
That was a messy night. About an inch of snow fell across much of the state. And now light drizzle lingers with temperatures hovering right at freezing. Watch for black ice this morning, especially on untreated surfaces. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Litchfield County until 7 A.M. Here's the good news. That wintry mix pulls away by daybreak. Patchy fog lingers through mid-morning, but skies turn partly sunny this afternoon. Highs reach 47 degrees along the coast, 46 in central Connecticut. And 49 out east. That's right where we should be for early March.
In the next 24 hours. Tonight, the full moon shines through breaking clouds. Lows drop to 26 degrees inland and 31 along the shore. Patchy fog redevelops late.
Thursday brings our next round of rain. It arrives early with a slight chance of freezing rain in the colder valleys before temperatures climb. Highs hold in the low 40s. Rain continues Thursday night with up to three-quarters of an inch possible.
Friday stays damp and cool with rain tapering by afternoon. Highs near 41 degrees.
But here's the turnaround. A real warm-up arrives this weekend. Saturday tops out near 51. Sunday hits 55. And by Monday and Tuesday? We're talking highs near 60 degrees — that's about 26 degrees above normal. Spring is knocking on the door, just two weeks until the equinox.
In Sunrise at 6, 22 A.M., sunset at 5:45 P.M. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight each day now.
