CONNECTIONS: Covid, jobs and gender inequality

Listen Later

How did the Covid-19 pandemic affect gender equality? By the end of this month, both the UK government’s job protection scheme and the £20 uplift to Universal Credit that were key to protecting jobs and income during the pandemic will be over.
Our latest Connections podcast explores the evidence on whether women’s employment status, incomes and budgets were hit harder than men’s, and what the long-term consequences of this impact might be. How did work and income equality fare in other countries during the crisis and why does protecting those on the lowest incomes tend to result in the most equal outcomes?
King's Business School Professor of Employment Damian Grimshaw hosts Rose Cook, Senior Research Fellow at the Global Institute for Women's Leadership and Lindsay Judge, Research Director at the Resolution Foundation, to discuss their research in this area.
