Sydney is a two-time cancer survivor her first experience with cancer was breast cancer when she was only twelve years old.

She has experienced many life-altering events, including losing a younger sister, a younger brother, and her father all to different kinds of cancer.

She has also lost her husband unexpectedly to suicide. Shortly after losing her husband, her four-year-old daughter was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor.
