The Unlearning Project

Consent - How Early Is Too Early?

Listen Later

When you think of consent who comes to mind? You probably are thinking about a teenager or a young people in their 20’s. The conversation around consent has focused largely on those in their sexually active years and we often fail to realise that this conversation needs to start a lot earlier. Today’s episode is a special one, it was the first episode we recorded, and it was also our launch episode! We came together as a community on zoom, and it was an incredible way to begin The Unlearning Project.

Jayneen Sanders (aka Jay Dale) is an experienced author, publisher, elementary school teacher. She is also an active advocate for body safety, gender equality and respectful relationship education being taught both in homes and in schools. Jayneen is also lead author of Engage Literacy published by Capstone Classroom and has published over 100 stories for children. She feels passionately that we can do so much more to keep our children safe by teaching them age-appropriate and empowering prevention education. And on top of that Jay also happens to be Jess’s mother.
