We’ll look at the creation, the fall, and the curse in the garden, skip the flood for now, and then move on the the translation of Enoch. And then it’s on to to the period after the flood to examine God’s appearance to Abraham, and three of Gideon’s five “secret miracles.”

Gal 1:6-2:16

Examine with us the evidence that Galatians was an early epistle of Paul, and perhaps the first epistle put into circulation as scripture. We’ll also look at the whether or not there were 2 different gospels being preached to the Galatians, (one by Paul, and another “perverted” gospel).

See how Paul’s letters contain a consistent theme warning against false teachers and false doctrine, as well and a consistent defense of the ministry he received “not after man”, but “by revelation of Jesus Christ”. We also look at Paul’s visits to Jerusalem: how many were there to this point, and what were the pertinent events of each?

We ask and answer: hat is an apostle? How many apostles were there? how many at Jerusalem? how many with Paul? And were all the apostles teaching salvation by, and obedience to Christ in the same way? Why does Paul say that the apostles he met with “seemed to be somewhat…. and seemed to be pillars”? And why does Paul paraphrase the letter from the twelve issued from the so called Jerusalem Council instead of quoting it? And why does he later contradict it? Who were “the circumcision” that Peter and the twelve agreed to minister to in Jerusalem, versus “the uncircumcision” Paul was sent to minister across the world after the so called Jerusalem Council?

And finally, can Paul’s admonition of Peter in Antioch for refusing to eat with his converts clarify what the gospel is for today? and how it differs from the gospel preached by Peter and the 12 from Pentecost through the middle of Acts? Is it grace or law? Is it faith or works? Or is it some combination?

II Cor 11-13

Paul engages in a bit of folly and sarcasm as he warns the Corinthians about false teachers, and calls both the false teachers, and those suffering fools gladly to repentance!

Paul compares himself and his fellows to the false teachers, speaking of himself as the genuine artice “… in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.”

He reminds the Corinthians he was, “…caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter.” Yet Christ’s sufficient faith taught him to glory in his infirmities, and the wanting not of theirs, but them, and in the spending of himself for the Corinthians and for us.

Paul teaches us about examining ourselves; answering the age old questions: “how do I know if I’m saved?” And he instructs us on proving our own selves not by the law, but by the transformation of the renewing of our mind in Christ.

II Cor 10
