Many believers become spiritually stagnant, showing up to church but not truly engaging with God's Word. The book of Hebrews warns against remaining in spiritual infancy when we should be growing into maturity. Mature Christians don't just know biblical truths - they consistently apply them. The difference between spiritual maturity and immaturity isn't knowledge but application through constant practice. God wants us to have a healthy fear of spiritual complacency that motivates growth, not paralyzing fear that shuts us down. The solution is finding a spiritual mentor and actively practicing what we already know from Scripture.
