Publisher's Summary:
This is the story of Bronx-born David Kokolovitz and his hilarious experiences with sex, Shakespeare, and the South Pacific. We follow David on his journey away from his Bronx home in search of an acting career. In a comedy of opposites, New Yorker David ends up living in the Deep South where he lands his first acting job at a southern Shakespeare repertory company. Just as the hazards of too-tight tights and too-long soliloquies become too much for him, World War II conveniently breaks out and he moves on to entertain the troops. It is then that he discovers his real performance talent - the ability to make people laugh. Renowned entertainer Carl Reiner narrates his own novel about a factory worker who turns into a show business icon.

To enjoy these stories and Reiner wit
I absolutely gobbled up both Continue Laughing and its predecessor, Enter Laughing. To enjoy these stories and Reiner wit, it helps to be familiar with New York Jewish humor and with theatrical shenanigans. It's a bonus if you hear the author's voice while reading these stories.
Great book.
I have to completely disagree with the previous reviewer. This is one of my favorite books. Carl Reiner writes with warmth and humor. There are certain scenes in the book that are laugh out loud funny and jokes so bawdy, you can't believe they were written by an 80 year old man. I stumbled across this book in a local library and checked it out again and again. I think this book is very underrated and I am frankly a bit disappointed to find it no longer in print.
I wish I'd liked this book as much as Kirkus did
I love Carl Reiner's work, and I especially loved "Enter Laughing," both the novel and the film. But this sequel doesn't have any of the charm of the original-- it's more a memoir than a novel, which means it has no real dramatic structure; it's a series of anecdotes told in the third person with names changed. A grave disappointment from a terrifically talented man.
